Barista Jake’s Inclusion Revolution

Documentary

Non-Profit

The Project

What began as a five‑year anniversary celebration video became a short documentary born out of pure love. Angela “Ma” McFarland sat down with me and began to tell their story. Before she could finish, I had to interrupt: This needs to be more than what you’re asking for.” With this being on a 2- month time crunch, we planned a night for interviews, told her to give me any and every asset she could imagine, and then randomly show up to their shop (or sometimes even events they were at) to capture more B-roll for their amazing story.

The Takeaway

I can’t begin to tell you how much this film means to me. I’ve known TheMcFarland Family for almost 7 years and for them to trust me in telling this story is an absolute honor. Barista Jake has grown incredibly since the first time I met him, and the employees they hire are all thriving.

Aftermath

The event was a success and everyone was able to resonate with the film. Since then, Barista Jake

and “Ma” continue to spread the word about their mission.

Barista Jake won a grant from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Won the 2026 Montgomery County Best Entrepreneur of the Year
